What is The Rainbow Podsquad?

Hello Listeners!
With the addition of the new shows and new members here at the Rainbow Podsquad, I felt this would be a great time to once again explain to everyone what the Rainbow Podsquad is and some history on this whole thing. So ... here goes:

In the early months of 2005 I started listening to podcast (ie: Yeast Radio, Feast of Fools, Lucky Bitch Radio, UFN Show, Podcastique, Posse Radio, Archer Radio) I found that I feel in love with listening to podcast from the first moment and felt that it was a wonderful way for a person to have their voice heard without censorship. After many months of being a listener, I made the decision to take the dive and start my own podcast. In August 2005 "The HigherThings Radio Show-Featuring AJ, Queercasting from Columbus, Ohio" was born. Durning this same time I meet and began talking to my now podcasting partner "Nick of Podcastique" as well as another member of the now RPS Network "Andy of Podcastique".
While talking with Nick one day...we came up with the idea of doing a gay coffee talk kinda show with both of us as the host and so at the end of August 2005 our new gay coffee talk show "Queerspresso" was born. At around the same time Nick & I discovered that we had alot of the same listeners on "HTR" & "Podcastique"...and one morning while sucking down coffee and smoking 5,000 smokey treats...an idea came to mind "wouldn't it be great to give our listeners and easy way to subscribe to and listen to both of our shows and visit one easy to use website...all in one place" and out of that little brainstorm..I came up with the idea of forming "The Rainbow Podsquad". Nick & I talked at length for several weeks about this idea and even ran it by a few listeners (you know who you are) to see what people thought of the idea...and they loved it.
So...in October 2005 "The Rainbow Podsquad" was formed. The basic idea was "form a family of queercasters & gay friendly podcasters who would post under one RSS Feed and use one simple website along with one iTunes subscribe method ...etc..as to make it easy for all listeners" we started this with the idea that our orginal shows "HigherThings Radio" & "Podcastique" would be the main anchor shows and that we would add shows and members to the Squad who was already a part of one of those shows (which at the time was AJ, Nick, Andy, Donna & VeVa LaWhore). The RPS went live in October 2005 with "HigherThings Radio, Podcastique & Queerspresso" as the only member shows.
In late October "Andy of Podcastique" decided to start his own podcast with his buddy "Mike" it was to be the token "Straight Cast" on the RPS. In November 2005 "VeVa LaWhore" the on again off again cohost and "Diva of Dish and Advice" for the "HigherThings Radio Show" started her very own program "The VeVa LaWhore Show" and it debuted on RPS on Nov 8, 2005.
Also in November 2005, Nick (now the host of Podcastique and CoHost of Queerspresso) started another podcast called "It's My Life on Podcastique" this would be a little look inside the personal life of Nick. It's My Life made its debut on RPS in November 2005.
Durning the early days of "HigherThings Radio" AJ (now the host of HTR, cohost of Queerspresso and Producer of The VeVa LaWhore Show) had experimented with doing shows on the iPod with a Belkin Voice Recorder as a way to do remote podcasting and when he was to fat and lazy to sit in front of the Mac. Several of these shows he title Bedcast, QuiteCast etc.. and in December 2005 he had another brainstorm (oh my) "how fun would it be just to do a podcast laying back in bed just talking with the ladies shooting the shit about his day, work..etc.." so after a "Name My New Show Contest" which was won by Mike Hipp (aka Ms. Hipps) of PodcastSoup.net the new show "Pillow Talk w/AJ" made its debut on RPS in early December.
At the end of 2005, Nick and AJ both decided it was time to add cohost to their shows (HTR & Podcastique) since in early October Podcastique had lost Donna and Andy was so busy with BayState Radio...Nick was on his own and AJ being on his own since day one...wanted to spice things up a little ....So...after many months of talking about it...Nick & AJ decided to go outside of our little family and add a few members to our Fabulous Family.
In January 2006 "Tom Holmes" of "Deep Fabulousity" was added as the new cohost of "Podcastique" and became a member of the Rainbow Podsquad...by adding his show "Deep Fabulousity" to the lineup on RPS. Also in January..."ZillaFag" of the "ZillaCast" was added as the new cohost of "HigherThings Radio" which was revamped and renamed to "Menstrual Mondays on HigherThings Radio". Zilla also became a member of the RPS family and his show "ZillaCast" began airing on RPS at the same time.
Thanks to great fans & listeners like yourself....The Rainbow Podsquad is now known as "The Rainbow Podsquad Network" and has been very successfull and is growing like weeds. We have had some great shows and great times in the last year and look forward to lots more in 2006!
"The Rainbow Podsquad Network" is a family of gay and gay friendly podcast, we are not a listing service...aggregator...podcasting service....and we are not a branch of qPodder (we love the qPodder and list our shows their everyday..its a great service )....We belive that we can be of greater value and more diverse as a "Family/Group" and offer more to our listeners...both in terms of great shows with great content...and fun times...but also...in terms of making it easier for our listeners to interact through one family website...rss feed...etc.
Just to clear up any rumors our misconceptions....The way in which we have built this family and will keep building it...is "It started with our foundation ...HigherThings Radio & Podcastique (which would be AJ & Nick...we are the cofounders..and hold the bag for everything..) and then grew into other shows in which the two of us are involved in ....then as we grew and as we will keep growing....we will add shows and members ...based on a "Group Decision" ....meaning....if we want to add someone..or if someone wants to become a member show of RPS...we (Nick & AJ) will discuss it together and then we will allow all of the members of RPS to have a say and vote one way or the other. We will only do what we feel is right...we are not trying to be "Elitist" (even if we always say we are...joking of course) ...we want to grow our family in the orginal direction and do what we think will be right for our "Listeners" and keeping in mind the kind of shows that our "Listener Base" loves to hear.
I hope this gives everyone a better idea of who we are and what we are all about!
